New UK Financial Regulations: What They Mean for Scam Victims

The 2025 regulatory updates strengthened the obligations UK banks have when a customer reports an authorised push payment (APP) scam, extending reimbursement protections and tightening the timeline banks must respond within.

For Magefond clients, this means stronger leverage when we approach a bank on a client's behalf: institutions now carry clearer liability for failing to intervene on suspicious transfers, and reimbursement claims are easier to substantiate with a well documented case file.

The changes also increased information-sharing requirements between banks, which has already sped up several of our active cases by making it easier to trace funds once they leave the victim's account.

Regulation moves slowly, but every update like this shifts the balance further in favour of victims. Magefond's legal team tracks these changes closely so every case we take on makes full use of the protections available.
